A quaint little coffee shop close by to Hither Green overground station.
On first sight it looks just like a flower shop, but on entering there are a selection of tables tucked around the flowers and miscellany that fill every nook and cranny (most is for sale, and or on exhibition)
For working some of the tables are a little small, and it can get easily crowded at weekends and lunchtimes – but go upstairs and bag the big table under the window and it’s a great little work spot. Vintage vinyl wafts upstairs, which is played from a beautiful looking player, perched on top of an equally beautiful vintage, hefty blue fridge.
No wi-fi, so for me it’s the perfect choice when I want to knuckle down – no distractions, and get some real work done. It’s a little dark in some spots downstairs, so be sure to get the table in the window, or a spot upstairs. They even have a little roof terrace for when it’s warm.
The flat whites are smooth and very good – served, again in a mis match of vintage and what I call church coffee morning cups ( ugly but strangely delicate at the same time, see pic) The flapjacks are amazing, especially the muesli and there is always an impressive selection of homemade cakes on display. Sandwiches and soups are also served, but they’re not cheap.
Service can be a little slow at busy times, so not always a great choice for a ‘quick coffee’.
